Introduction

Abstract

In establishing this volume, we were inspired by the pioneering work of the e-meth- odology research tradition—an approach grounded in understanding the methodological innovations and challenges emerging from the integration of Internet-based tools into academic research. Over the years, our research teams have initiated and completed three significant projects. The outcomes of the first two were published in scientific mono-graphs. The findings of the most recent project were presented in the inaugural issue of E-methodology journal, which was entirely devoted to experimental research conducted via the Internet.

E-methodology is an annual scientific publication devoted to addressing the com- plexities and opportunities that arise in conducting research in the social sciences and humanities using Internet-based environments and tools. It features theoretical contri- butions as well as empirical papers—each emphasising the unique characteristics of “In- ternet methodology.”

This collection includes research that explores topics ranging from the application of artificial intelligence in trichology to the dynamics of online survey bias, and from digi- tal public health strategies to the analysis of online discourse during ecological crises. A special focus is given to how digital tools reshape research and practice in public health, education, and science communication. Selected poster sessions presented during the VII International Congress of the Polish Public Health Society, themed “Prevention – A Great Investment in Public Health,” held on November 27–28, 2024, at the National Medical Institute in Warsaw are published here as separate articles.

Particularly in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the urgency of developing and refining online methodologies has become even more apparent. The need for resilient, scalable, and ethical approaches to Internet-based research and practice continues to shape our scholarly pursuits.
